Hello 👋 I’m Ian.

I started Rooster Bookkeeping for two reasons — freedom and community. I’ve always believed small businesses are the heartbeat of Alaska, and helping them stay organized and profitable felt like the best way to give back while building something for my family.

The name Rooster came naturally. I’m an early riser — I built this business in the quiet hours before heading to my day job, one spreadsheet at a time. It stuck because it represents showing up early, working hard, and keeping things consistent.

Before launching Rooster, I earned my MBA and worked in small business consulting, where I saw firsthand how much clarity a good bookkeeper can bring. My time in the Army taught me discipline and attention to detail — both useful when someone’s trusting you with their numbers.

When I’m not in QuickBooks, I’m writing (two books and a weekly watch newsletter), lifting weights, or enjoying the Alaskan outdoors with my family — occasionally singing bad emo karaoke.
